Surgical Accessories

Surgical accessories are uniquely created instruments or devices for carrying out specific actions of medical operations or treatments. They are used by surgeons or medical practitioners. Many different kinds of surgical equipments and devices have been developed over the years. Some surgical instruments are designed for common use in medical procedures, whilst some others are designed for a specific requirement. Medical or surgical accessories include syringes, stitch cutters, surgical gloves, blades, sutures, gowns, needle sets, surgeon caps etc. There are mainly two types of surgical instruments one is disposable and the second one is non-disposable surgical accessories.

These days there are a lot of concerns regarding the spread of germs and infections in hospitals and other health care facilities. One of the reasons for this is the multiple uses of these accessories with many patients and failing to adhere to proper sterilization methods. This has been a matter of concern in many hospitals and due to this disposable medical equipment has come into picture. Disposable instruments are use and throw ones. They are used only once and disposed after that. These instruments help in prevention of infections and many related diseases. Disposable surgical accessories essentially need to be very cheaper. The best example for these types is surgical hand gloves or syringes. The dispose of these accessories should be as environmentally friendly as possible according to the Govt rules and regulations in many countries.

The non-disposable instruments (also called reusable surgical tools) are used several times, for many patients. Because of this they need extra sterilization to prevent spreading of infections. The non-disposable surgicals instruments are costlier and there will be maintenance also. The medical staffs have to be extra careful while using non-disposable surgical accessories because infections can spread from patients to patients if not properly sterilized properly before the every use. These days proper rules and regulations are employed in many hospitals to adhere to these norms and rules.
