Metal Wire Mesh - Plain Weave Mesh Manufacturers

Wire Mesh
Wire Mesh or Wire Cloth is a semi-permeable barrier. It is generally woven on looms, analogous to the looms that are commonly used to weave cloth.  However, we use wire instead of yarn. Different patterns such as plain weave, twilled weave, plain Dutch weave etc., can be made. Woven wire mesh can be manufactured using different raw materials. Some of which are:
Mild steel which is a low cost option.
Stainless steel which is the most popular material, giving good strength and durability.
Monel which is the Nickel/Copper Alloy has the combination of strength and excellent resistance to acids etc.
Brass & copper, aluminum insect/ fly screen mesh and fiberglass are other excellent raw materials.
The metal, fiber, or other flexible/ductile materials are then interleaved to form meshes. Wire mesh can be identified based on raw material, width and length of wire mesh, type of wire mesh and wire diameter.
Plain Weave Mesh
One of the most commonly used and simplest wire cloth weave is the Plain weave. Each warp wire passes alternately over and under the wires running up, down and across through the cloth. These wires are identified as warp and weft wires. Warp wires are those parallel to length of wire mesh. Weft wires are those ones parallel to width of wire mesh. They are manufactured using steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and various other alloys as per the application requirement. Plain weave has ideal strength-to-weight ratio, wide range of open area percentages, precise hole size and is corrosion resistant.
Plain weave mesh can be described using mesh count and wire thickness. The wire mesh count is the number of wires per square inch. The wire thickness is in mm. For example, let us consider one sample type 10# .56mm. Here # stands for mesh. The example means 10 horizontal wires per inch and 10 vertical wires per inch. This mesh count gives 100 apertures per square inch. As the woven mesh count increases, the wire thickness tends to decrease.
Openings in the wire mesh are usually square. Plain weave meshes can have apertures ranging from 10.7mm (2 meshes) to 0.05mm (325 meshes). The characteristics of this mesh includes square aperture, high flow through, high open area  result of which is less pressure drop during filtration. It is appropriate for all kinds of filtration up to 63 µm. Since the openings are large fine filtration is not possible but it has wide variety of uses in other applications.
Multiple layers of plain weave square woven wire mesh together can be used to make sintered wire mesh. Since this kind of wire meshes have large openings, sintered wire mesh laminate has good penetrability characteristics and low resistance to flow. Sintered wire mesh can be designed with any number and combination of square plain weave wire mesh layers to achieve particular flow and filtration characteristics. This type of sintered wire mesh laminate is used for polymer production and in fluid and air filtration applications.
It is possible to sinter a large number of layers of square woven wire mesh together to form parts that are very thick and useful as flame and detonation arrestors. These laminates are usually several inches thick and still can demonstrate high flow characteristics.
