Centrifugal pump is mainly employed for
transporting fluid. This relies on the impeller which can help stir the fluid
to generate centrifugal force. Then, the pressure from the force will make the
pump work. When choosing a pump, it is highly suggested to make sure what it is
used for and what performance it can has. Anyway, there are two types of such
working pumps which are divided according to the inhaling fluid ways of the impeller.
One of the devices is end-suction pump.
There is only one inlet, so the impeller only has one end for water suction. IS
pump is a typical series. It comes with many features. Its rotary vacuum pump
spindle and impeller have excellent property to ensure that the device will
operate smoothly. Apart from the feeble sound of dynamo, there is hardly any
other noise. The structure is simple and reasonable. The whole equipment can work
for a longer time without malfunction. Moreover, it is not hard to change seal
or bearings.
Another one is double suction pump. The
fluid can be absorbed from both ends of the impeller. Namely, there are two
inlets. It has stronger cavitation resistance and better balanced axial thrust
effect when compared to single suction coupled pump.
It is able to run more stably. S pump series mainly represents this category.
Its impeller is installed in the pump case and fastened on the shaft. It is the
motor that leads the operation of the shaft. There is no need to disassemble
water inlet-outlet pipes or motor when fulfilling maintenance.
Since the double suction type has one more
shaft seal in comparison to single suction one. It will make some leakage
happen to wear-ring of the latter more easily. If the jockey
pump flow is be equal or greater than 280m3/h, and the diameter reaches to 200mm or bigger, the revolving speed should
be about 1450rpm for the single suction device. On the other hand, the size and
weight will be cut down if double suction split case pump is applied. In this
case, the speed will be accelerated. The volume efficiency will be enhanced as
well. Its diameter is normally bigger. Thus, it is often in use for the
industries.
After all, double suction unit is more
suitable for transporting mass flow. So it is widely utilized in the factories,
cities, mining, power station, farmland, water conservancy project and many
other areas. And, single suction unit is applicable in heating, hot-water air
conditioning system of buildings as well as metallurgy, rubber, printing and
dyeing, refining sugar and some other industrial sectors. Anyway, each type of
them is single stage pump.
